Event Details
In the late 1920s and early ’30s, St. Paul earned a chilling nickname: Crooks’ Haven. The city became a sanctuary for outlaws, bootleggers, and bank robbers who found safe passage under the protection of crooked politicians. But while the law may have looked the other way… death did not.
Beneath the ballpark, tunnels once led to secret speakeasies, gambling dens, and gangster hideouts. Deals were struck, debts were collected, and sometimes… rivals disappeared.
The Ghostly Gangster game woke up something in the tunnels. Once sealed-off passageways became monuments of disaster. The secrets of the past could not be contained forever. Ushertainers went missing, players vanished from the dugout, and crowd roars were cut short by screams. The gangsters from the past had come back—not to watch, but to play themselves. In time, the city shuttered the tunnels, declared them secure, and assured the public the grounds were safe. The city may have locked the doors, but it never silenced the dead. Enter after dark… but don’t expect to walk out alone. For the first time since the Ghostly Gangster Game, the ballpark re-opens for “Fright Nights at the Field: Lowertown Terror,” which takes over the ballpark this October.
Beginning on Thursday, October 9 and running through Friday, October 31 Lowertown Terror will run Thursday-Sunday from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. The hair-raising guided tour will take fans underneath the ballpark, through the clubhouses, down the hallways, and outside to the bottom of the Treasure Island Terrace. All Lowertown Terror tours are for those 12 and older.
“To finally open the ballpark to guests is a huge relief,” said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Zane Heinselman. “We’ve taken all the necessary precautions to make sure every one of the ghostly gangsters was escorted off the premises. I’ve even walked through the ballpark on my own at night and I’m pretty sure I didn’t see or hear anything unusual, except for the thumping of baseballs in our batting cage…you know I’ve said too much. We’re all good over here.”

What is Lowertown Terror?
Lowertown Terror is a unique haunted attraction set throughout a baseball ballpark, offering an immersive, intense, and frightening experience unlike any other.
Is the Lowertown Terror Haunt scary?
Lowertown Terror is designed to be a terrifying Haunt experience. In addition to scary imagery, there will be flashing/strobing lights, loud noises & music, fog/haze, compressed air blasts, and scare actors hiding & jumping out. We aim to deliver maximum frights for all guests.
Can I bring my children?
Children under 12 are not permitted in Lowertown Terror. We encourage parents to use their best judgment for minors over the age of 12. Minors between 12-15yrs will require a parental guardian to accompany them at Lowertown Terror.
Are there any restrictions on what I can bring or wear?
Yes, safety is our top priority at CHS Field. For everyone’s safety, the following are prohibited: backpacks, pets, alcoholic beverages, drugs, weapons (real or fake, including toy guns, knives or swords), flashlights, Halloween masks, and costume makeup.
Costumes are allowed but must not:
- Obstruct identification (e.g., full face masks)
- Include any real or replica weapons
- Resemble attraction staff or emergency responders
Guests in costume must still comply with the behavior and safety policies listed above.
Will the actors touch me?
No, actors will not intentionally touch or grab you. They may get close, and some incidental contact may occur, but contact is strictly prohibited. As a guest, you are not allowed to touch, grab, hit, or harm any performers/scare actors/staff. Violators will immediately be turned over to security.
Can I take photos or videos inside?
Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited inside the attraction, as flashes and lights can disrupt the experience for others. However, you are welcome to take photos in our designated photo areas.
Are emotional support animals allowed?
No, due to the intense nature of the attraction, emotional support animals are not permitted. The environment can be overwhelming and unpredictable for them.
Only service animals as defined by the ADA are permitted inside the attraction. Emotional support animals, therapy animals, comfort animals, and pets are not service animals under the ADA and will not be permitted.
Service animals must: (1) be under the handler’s control at all times (leash, harness, or tether unless disability prevents use), and remain calm and non-aggressive, without barking, growling, or jumping on others. If a service animal is out of control or not housebroken, the handler will be asked to remove the animal from the premises. The handler is solely responsible for the care and supervision of the service animal at all times.
Given the nature of our attraction — which includes confined spaces, low lighting, strobe effects, loud noises, sudden movements, and actors in close proximity — there may be situations where the presence of an animal would:
- Pose a direct threat to the health or safety of guests, staff, or the animal, or
- Fundamentally alter the nature of the experience.
If, after careful assessment, such a condition exists and cannot be reasonably mitigated, we reserve the right to deny entry to the animal while still providing reasonable accommodations to the guest.
Is the event wheelchair accessible?
Yes, Lowertown Terror is wheelchair accessible. We aim to provide reasonable accommodations in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Please contact management in advance for specific accessibility requests. Some terrain may not be fully navigable with mobility devices.
Is the Haunt indoors or outdoors?
The experience includes both indoor and outdoor elements. The majority of the Haunt takes place in outdoor exposed areas with overhead coverage, and food and beverage will be served under the covered concourse.
What if I get too scared?
If at any point you feel too frightened to continue, a designated emergency exit is available for early departure from the attraction. No refunds will be given.
How many people are sent through at a time?
You will be in a group of up to 15 people to go through the experience together. If you arrive as a large group, your group may be split up. If you arrive as a small group, you will be paired with others.
How does it work when I arrive?
Once you scan your ticket and enter CHS Field please make your way to the main level concourse. From here we ask you check-in to receive your Lowertown Terror wristband. This wristband will allow you to enter the Lowertown Terror queue during your assigned timeslot.
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to your timeslot. Feel free to grab food & beverages, mingle, and take some photos while you wait.
Will Lowertown Terror be open if it rains?
Yes, we will be open Rain or Shine.
